While attending the Polish premiere of his opera The Mice War at Krakow Opera, David Chesky and conductor Yaniv Segal took a life changing trip to the extermination camps at Auschwitz and Birkenau. Emotionally shaken by the experience, David wanted to create works not only depicting the trauma and sorrows of the death camps, but also the joy and celebrations that encompass all aspects of Jewish life. The music is at times full of angst while constantly pulsating with life and raw rhythmic energy that reflect the rich cultural history and musical tradition of Jews. Using the language and Klezmer style of Eastern Europe as raw material, David has redefined what Jewish music for orchestra sounds like.

Spotlighted by Esquire Magazine as a rising star that is "redefining classical music," Yaniv Segal is the assistant conductor to Andrey Boreyko and the Naples Philharmonic. He served as the assistant conductor of the Krzysztof Penderecki Festival in Warsaw, and led the Polish premiere of David Chesky's "The Mice War" at Krakow Opera. Yaniv was a frequent conductor with the Chelsea Symphony for the past nine years and last season led the orchestra in the premiere of his Rite of Spring (Redux) - an adaptation of Stravinsky's The Rite of Spring for modern orchestra that includes electric guitar, bass guitar, and saxophone.

Called “sensational in concert" by the New York Times, and “a striking virtuoso” by the Los Angeles Time, winner of the Naumburg Chamber Music Prize, cellist Kristina Reiko Cooper has performed as a soloist and chamber musician on some of the world's most distinguished stages. She has been a soloist with the Prague Chamber Orchestra, the Toronto Symphony, the Shanghai Symphony and toured with the Tokyo Yomiuri Orchestra. This past season she made her solo Carnegie Hall debut.
Clarinetist Moran Katz won all top prizes of the prestigious 2013 Ima Hogg Competition -- First Prize, Audience Prize, and Artistic Encouragement voted on by the Houston Symphony Musicians. She has also won first and second prizes respectively in the Freiburg (Germany) and Beijing International Clarinet Competitions.

Artur Kaganovskiy has been captivating audiences around the world with his unique and distinctively rich sound, superb musicianship, and outstanding interpretations, having been compared on numerous occasions to violinists of the Golden Era. Artur made his Carnegie Hall debut, performing Elgar’s Violin Concerto, at the Stern Auditorium in 2007 with retired members of the New York Philharmonic under the baton of David Gilbert. He has appeared on the Russian Television network, and toured the U.S., Europe, and China with the Juilliard Orchestra

Ethan Herschenfeld recently made his Metropolitan Opera debut as the Murderer in Macbeth, his Semperoper Dresden debut as Cardinal Brogni in La Juive, and his Teatro Real Madrid debut as Aguirre and HogBoy in the world premiere of Wuorinen’s Brokeback Mountain.
